    GCP Presents Faculty Fellows Award

Each year, Graduate Commons recognizes Harvard Faculty Members who have contributed in a lasting way to the Graduate Commons Program and its residents. This year, GCP is delighted to recognize a couple who consistently give their time and energy to our Program and the residents they meet: Howell Jackson and Elizabeth (Betsy) Foote.

They have joined GCP for many memorable events including: a lecture on school choice and charter schools in Massachusetts, a discussion on America’s general’s today, and our annual Head of the Charles Regatta Brunch. We love having them participate in our community and look forward to future opportunities.  Their names have been inscribed on the Graduate Commons Faculty Fellows Plaque that sits outside our Associate Directors office – "In recognition for their lasting contribution to the GCP Community".  Thank you and Congratulations!

    L.E.A.D. Campaign - #GCPDOSOMETHING

Graduate Commons has committed itself this semester to helping you L.E.A.D.  As we head into April, our last full month on campus, we hope you'll take these last few weeks to not only work hard, but play hard.  It's time to DO SOMETHING!

To date, we have shared opportunities to LEARN by inviting Professors from across the University to discuss President Trump's first 100 days, immigration and homeland security, as well as our upcoming talk on criminal justice in the U.S. with Ron Sullivan (HLS).

We then found ways for you to EXPLORE all Harvard has to offer, including a talk by Mayor Walsh and upcoming events on gender in sports at Radcliffe and gun violence at HLS.  The International Office, HLS Law Clinics, and Counseling Office remain available to any one seeking more information or ASSISTance during these times.

Now, we turn our attention to DOing.  Tag us this month as you #gcpdosomething in service of yourself, your community, or just when checking something off your Harvard bucket list. Check out our EVENT CALENDARS on the left to learn more!

    GCP Celebrates Inaugural Faculty Directors

After eight years of service and mentorship, the Faculty Directors of the Riverside Graduate Commons programs at Akron and Cowperthwaite facilities will be transitioning out of their leadership roles at the end of the semester.

Professors Davíd Carrasco and María Luisa Parra (10 Akron Street) along with Professor Jennifer Lerner and Dr. Brian Gill (5 Cowperthwaite Street) will bid farewell to GCP at the conclusion of the 2015-2016 academic year. The two couples have been instrumental in the development and growth of Graduate Commons from a 2-building pilot program introduced in 2008, to its current reach across 3,000 Harvard University Housing units. Having interacted with countless graduate students and their families over the years, the Faculty Directors depart with many friendships and fond memories of their time with GCP. Celebrations to honor the four took place at the beginning of May.
