Property Search
New Application Season Will Open on March 1, 2012

If you need housing for the 2012-2013 academic year, please do not apply now. Instead, submit your housing application on or after March 1.

If you need housing now , but have not yet applied, we are still accepting housing applications for the remainder of this current application season, which ends on February 29. To learn more, click on the tab "I Want to Live in Harvard University Housing" on the upper left side of the screen. Please note, however, that we have rented nearly all of our Harvard University Housing apartments, but we can receive unexpected lease cancellations at any time.

Top Ten Reasons to Live in Harvard University Housing

These are just a few of the many reasons to make your home with us.

  1. Location, location, location! Walk to Harvard Square or the graduate schools from our Cambridge properties; Harvard@Trilogy is close to the Longwood Medical Area. Public and Harvard transportation systems are easily accessible.
  2. Properties are managed by Harvard University Housing; after-hours emergency services are available.
  3. Heat, hot water, and electricity are included in your rent.
  4. Stay connected! Free wireless Internet access is available in many of our common rooms; high-speed Internet service is provided in apartments at select locations. All apartments are cable ready.
  5. In-building fitness rooms are available to residents of Harvard@Trilogy, 5 Cowperthwaite Street, and 10 Akron Street.
  6. No security deposit, application fee, or finder’s fee required. Rents are conveniently paid via student term bill or payroll deduction.
  7. Furnished, pet-friendly, and non-smoking apartments are available at select locations. Many family-friendly properties feature on-site play areas.
  8. Laundry facilities are located in our large and mid-size properties.
  9. We are green! We run our buildings sustainably and four of our properties are LEED certified.
  10. The unique, interdisciplinary Graduate Commons Program at 5 Cowperthwaite and 10 Akron Streets (and Peabody Terrace in September 2012) provides a "home away from home" for Harvard's graduate student community. Special Housing Options

Harvard University Housing offers these special housing options.

  • Pet-friendly
    Dogs/Cats/Birds: Currently permitted at certain apartments at 59 Banks Street, Botanic Gardens, 23-25 Flagg Street, 2 Grant Street, 17 Grant Street, Holden Green, 8A Mount Auburn Street, 21 Robinson Street, 5A Sacramento Street, Shaler Lane, Soldiers Field Park, 17 Ware Street, and 381 Western Avenue. At these apartments, there is a limit of one cat or one dog, not to exceed 40 pounds when full grown (breed restrictions apply), or two domesticated pet birds.

    Fish: Currently permitted at all HU Housing properties. Fish are limited to an aquarium that does not to exceed 50 gallons.

  • Non-smoking
    Smoking is NOT allowed in common areas, hallways, stairways, elevators, laundry rooms, near building entrances and exits, and in any other designated non-smoking areas at ALL HU Housing properties. Effective July 1, 2012, smoking on apartment balconies, patios, and terraces at HU Housing properties will no longer be permitted, with the exception of Peabody Terrace – Buildings 10-22 and Soldiers Field Park – Buildings 3-15.

    Currently, buildings designated as smoke-free are:
    - 10 Akron Street
    - 18 Banks Street/8A Mount Auburn Street
    - 5 Cowperthwaite Street
    - 29 Garden Street
    - 2 Grant Street
    - 4 Grant Street
    - Harvard@Trilogy (170 Brookline Avenue)
    - 202, 204, 206, 208, 210, and 302 Holden Green
    - Peabody Terrace - Buildings 1–9
    - Soldiers Field Park - Building 1
    - 11-15 Sumner Road
    - One Western Avenue
    In addition, furnished apartments at five properties are designated as non-smoking:
    - Harvard@Trilogy
    - 1306 Massachusetts Avenue*
    - 4-6 Mount Auburn Street
    - 65 Mount Auburn Street*
    - Peabody Terrace (most, a few are not).

    Effective July 1, 2012, the following buildings will also be designated as smoke-free:
    - Peabody Terrace - Buildings 23-34
    - 8 Plympton Street*
    - 65 Mount Auburn Street*
    - 1306 Massachusetts Avenue*
    - Soldiers Field Park - Building 2
    * (building offline June 1, 2012; leases run through May 15, 2012 only and are not extendible)

    In accordance with this policy, smoking is prohibited within the apartments; on apartment balconies, patios, and terraces; in all common areas, hallways, stairways, elevators, and laundry rooms within these buildings; and near all building entrances and exits. With the exception of the foregoing, tenants who wish to smoke are allowed to do so only inside their apartment.
  • Furnished
    Some apartments at 10 Akron Street, Harvard@Trilogy, 1306 Massachusetts Avenue, 4-6 Mount Auburn Street, 65 Mount Auburn Street, and Peabody Terrace. Most furnished apartments are non-smoking (a few at Peabody Terrace are not).

  • Graduate Commons Program
    All apartments at 10 Akron and 5 Cowperthwaite Streets now; expanding to Peabody Terrace in September 2012.
