The Leasing Team began accepting applications for the 2013-2014 academic year on March 1, 2012 and closed out the initial submission period on May 1, 2013 EDT. If you missed the May 1 date, however, you still can find a great HU Housing apartment. We will continue to accept housing applications for available apartments through February 2014. Our Currently Available list can be a great apartment resource for you.

    Special Housing Options

    Harvard University Housing offers these special housing options.

    • Pet-friendly
      Dogs/Cats/Birds: Currently permitted in certain apartments at 59 Banks Street, Botanic Gardens, 23-25 Flagg Street, 2 Grant Street, 17 Grant Street, Holden Green, 8A Mount Auburn Street, 21 Robinson Street, 5A Sacramento Street, Shaler Lane, Soldiers Field Park, 17 Ware Street, and 381 Western Avenue. At these apartments, there is a limit of one cat or one dog, not to exceed 40 pounds when full grown (breed restrictions apply), or two domesticated pet birds.

      Fish: Currently permitted at all HU Housing properties except Cronkhite Graduate Center. Fish are limited to an aquarium that does not to exceed 50 gallons.

    • Non-smoking
      Harvard University Housing (HUH) is continuing to expand its successful Non-smoking Housing Program, which began in 2008. Additional buildings will be designated as non-smoking effective July 1, 2013, and all units will be non-smoking effective July 1, 2014.
      In all smoke-free buildings, smoking is prohibited within the apartments, on apartment balconies/patios, near building entrances and exits, all exterior premises, and in all common areas within these buildings (hallways, stairways, elevators, laundry rooms, and in any other designated non-smoking areas). In buildings not designated as smoke-free, tenants who wish to smoke are allowed to do so only inside their apartment.

    Buildings currently designated as smoke-free (no smoking permitted) are:
    - 10 Akron Street
    - 18 Banks Street
    - 5 Cowperthwaite Street
    - Cronkhite Graduate Center
    - 29 Garden Street
    - 2 Grant Street
    - 4 Grant Street
    - Harvard@Trilogy (170 Brookline Avenue)
    - Holden Green 202, 204, 206, 208, 210, and 302
    - 8A Mount Auburn Street
    -
    Peabody Terrace - Buildings 1—9 and Buildings 23-34
    - Soldiers Field Park - Buildings 1 and 2
    - 11-15 Sumner Road
    - One Western Avenue
    - Furnished apartments at 4-6 Mount Auburn Street and Peabody Terrace (most, a few are not designated smoke free)

    Effective July 1, 2013, the following buildings will also be designated as smoke-free (no smoking permitted):
    - Botanic Gardens
    - Haskins Hall
    - Holden Green 10–118, 201, 203, 213, 215, 217, 301, 305, and 307
    - Kirkland Court
    - 4-6 Mount Auburn Street
    - Peabody Terrace — Buildings 10-22
    - 20-20A Prescott Street
    - 22-24 Prescott Street
    - Shaler Lane
    - Soldiers Field Park — Buildings 3 and 4 (entries 3–15)
    - Terry Terrace

    Effective July 1, 2014, all of the remaining buildings in the HUH portfolio will be designated as non-smoking/smoke-free.

    • Furnished
      Some apartments at 10 Akron Street, Harvard@Trilogy, 4-6 Mount Auburn Street, and Peabody Terrace, and all residence hall rooms at Cronkhite Graduate Center.
    • Cronkhite Graduate Center
      HUH offers 110 traditional furnished residence hall units in the Cronkhite Graduate Center.
    • Graduate Commons Program
      Currently, all apartments at 10 Akron, 5 Cowperthwaite Streets, and Peabody Terrace, and all residence hall rooms at Cronkhite Graduate Center. Expanding to 27 additional properties in the 2013-2014 academic year.
